TOP SPOT

Coming in at the number one spot was 47 O, selling for £89,973. We haven’t seen an O plate hitting the top for quite a while in 2024, total contrast to 2023 when several auctions appeared in the top highest 2.

JOINT SECOND

Two plates achieved the same amount in this auction, both selling for £32,321 each - 160 G and 296 S, which would look superb on the Ferrari Dino which was first launched back in 1958.

In at fourth place was a neat looking 0/O plate 70 OOO selling for £30,267. Again, as in previous auctions, the multiple O and 0 combinations proved popular, and this is a nice example.

711 H at £27,044, completed the top five.

Words

The highest placed word in this auction was 81 OW (Blow) at £20,252. Translate this word as you choose 7 UCK – possibly TUCK or LUCK maybe!!!! either way this buyer parted with £17,774.

Somebody that has a possible artistic talent or interest purchased NUD 3S (Nudes) for  £14,987 or maybe somebody that is just at ease in their birthday suit!

Not sure if the buyer of SH07 TER is referring to length or duration, either way this went for a very reasonable £7,823, one that didn’t escape this auction was GE74 WAY ('Getaway') at £6,513. DOC 703R was a surprisingly effective 'Doctor' plate, “Who” ever won this plate did so for a bargain price at just £3,945.

Names

The UK’s Capital and home to the financial and trading services industries saw this well-presented LON 60N plate go for £18,647. JOO 5H (£17,568) may have been purchased as a 'Josh' registration, but several less expensive plates offered less ambiguous name representations.

Proving that there are still ‘Singh’ plates available was MD51 NGH (£13,446).

If you are lucky enough to have the Russian name of Natalya, this was your chance NA74 LYA going for a very modest price at £12,933. Other names that we spotted were MRH 454N ('Mr Hasan') at £8,978, REU 183N ('Reuben') at £7,797, SOF 141X ('Sofia 1X') at £6,847 and AR73 HUR ('Arthur') at £6,513.

Cars

As always car references were available in this auction with the ever popular 911 popping up several times, 911 JRH (£11,148), 911 ABS (£7,797), 911 CSB (£6,012), 911 DJS and 911 PVS (both at £5,550), 911 SLT (£5,229) and P911 DKR (£4,908). With over 48,000 Porsche 911 cars on the road, there are sure to be owners keeping a very close eye on the 911 Auction lots.

WAG 90N, at £13,511, would suit lots of different vehicles, but would be more suited on a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, in our opinion.

Miscellaneous

This auction had several plates that follow the symmetry theme, usually a few plates that are appealing are purely just visual with no meaning.

XXX 99 - £10,300

666 HHH - £6551

OO06 OOO -£16,361
